What are sleep disorders?
Let’s not normalize poor sleep — the first step is knowing what you’re up against.

Sleep Apnea
When the airway in your throat gets blocked or narrowed while you sleep. This leads to poor sleep, snoring, and fatigue.

Insomnia
When you have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep and do not feel refreshed throughout the day.

Restless Leg Syndrome
When you experience recurrent and unpleasant sensations to move your legs before falling asleep.

Hypersomnia
When you’re overly sleepy during the day, despite a good night’s sleep. This can affect your work and social life.

Circadian Rhythm Disorders
When your sleep routine doesn’t sync with your daily life—think delayed sleep phase syndrome, jet lag, or shift work...

Parasomnias
When you have odd behaviors during sleep, like sleepwalking or night terrors. They disrupt your sleep and are quite unsettling.

Reduce stress
When your body gets sufficient sleep, it is better able to cope with stress.

Improve your mood
Sleep facilitates the brain’s processing of emotional information.

Mental disorders
Sleep disorders often go hand in hand with other mental health issues such as anxiety, stress and depression.

Sleep disorders are more widespread than you might think. According to a National Sleep Foundation survey, 43% of people aged 13–64 have reported lying awake at night due to stress at least once in the past month.

Our clinic and our network of partners work hand-in-hand to deliver an expansive suite of treatment choices, designed to fit your unique needs. These include:
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i): the gold standard treatment for insomnia, recommended by the American Sleep Association and other medical experts including the American College of Physicians (ACP). CBT-i is a non- pharmacological treatment focused on education and behavior modification. It harnesses mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques, and aligns your sleep/wake cycle with your natural circadian rhythm*.
-
Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) therapy: the gold standard treatment for sleep apnea. It involves wearing a small nasal mask throughout the night. Linked to a machine that pushes lightly pressurized air, the mask keeps your airways open and prevents sleep apnea from occurring. Your sleep is restored and you can get your overall health back on track.
-
Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD): this is a type of oral appliance that looks like a mouthguard. Wearing a MAD while you sleep keeps your lower jawbone in a forward position. This expands your airway, helping you breathe better throughout the night. MAD is the first choice treatment for mild forms of sleep apnea.
-
Other: In addition to PAP therapy, CBT-i and oral appliances, we offer alternative treatment options such as positional therapy, weight loss, or even surgical options with our network of providers.
*Circadian rhythm is your body’s 24 hour rhythm, making you feel tired or alert at regular times of the night and day.
